The Weed,
Jun 05, 2008
Reviewer: jw62
My experience with liqueurs have been very bad. To name a few; Southern Comfort, Yukon Jack, and one or two European liqueurs have all been ghastly. Then some friends introduced me to Jeremiah. After the first two shots I was convinced this stuff was no better than anything else I had tried to date. It scorched my innards all the way down and brought me to the point of vomiting. However, what caught my interest was its good, old-fashioned American bourbon flavor lying underneath a heavy sweetness. After five shots it didn't scorch anymore. Weed eventually became very enjoyable.

Well I was told a different story of how the drink was introduced into the Officer's Clubs across America. Anyway, it is a highly regaurded tradition and as an Air Force brat of a fighter pilot I would know. I have indulged in a few drinks of the Weed myself and have seen many men (I thought could handle their liquor) go down. As was stated before me, Weed is a sneaky drink so never underestimate it!!

I had lost track of this beverage. Knew nothing about its fighter pilot roots, but used to drink it with my grandfather as an after dinner treat. Neat or on the rocks. My brother-in-law is Air Force but he is Space Command, so i will have to educate him. I found it recently at Brown Derby International Wines n Springfield Missouri

Jeremiah Weed, my last drink of '07, and my 1st of '08.,

I made a review last year on this, and that was from a fading memory of how good it tasted. I finally found some at BEVMO on 67th Ave. and Bell in Glendale, AZ. It was a wee bit pricey ($13.99) but holy crap, this stuff rocks! MY GF, who is not a drinker, drank some for New Years, and she liked it, too. 'Course, she calls it `Battery Acid' because of it's strong burn, but I love it.
The reason that, as one of the Colonels (of the 308th FS) at Luke AFB told me, that Luke pilots drink JW is, because years ago, one of the pilots crashed and died. The investigators inspected the wreckage, and did their reports. After the reports, they went to a liquor store nearby, and all that was readily available was Jeremiah Weed. The bottles were bought, and brought to the site, where they drank to their fallen comrade.
Jeremiah Weed rocks, on the rocks, or flat out straigh from the bottle

J-Weed! Nothing like it for my Bucks/$,

John Zmirak ... Defames a fine Bourbon Liqueur ... Jeremiah Weed. For some an acquired taste, but a pleasant one. Straight-up or On the Rocks with a lime, a pleasant way to cap a Winter day or a Summer afternoon especially with a few friends.
I keep a 'Skull & Crossbones' jug filled with J-Weed in my shop to share with visitors. It always puts a smile on their faces when I grab the jug and shot glasses .....Good Times Indeed!
I believe I'm responsible for it's availability in the Portland Oregon area . I found it in Victorville California (Edwards Airforce Base) back in the eighties and started requesting it at local liquor stores. After introducing it to my friends the popularity modestly grew and I can now find it all around town.
...................... A KNESAL

An All Time Favorite,

I was first introduced to the Weed at a rock n roll bar not too far from Nellis Air Force Base. That first kick and smooth finish was definitely the hook. Has become a traditional holiday shooter, and an occassional (I need to de-stress really fast) drink. Enjoy...

Luke Air Force Base's fave drink,
Mar 28, 2006
Reviewer: Alexdarkland
Though I only tasted it once at the 21st Fighter Squadron `Gamblers' at Luke AFB, I liked it. Although, the captain who allowed me to try it said it tasted bad, I tried it anyway, and I liked it. It was like a cross between Ten High (my fave cheap whiskey) and Southern Comfort; Burny and rough, but smooth and sweet as well. Jeremiah Weed is enjoyed by all of the squadrons, and it a tradition amongst their older pilots.

Aquired Taste,
Feb 28, 2006
Reviewer: Hosanova
Weed is one of those things you wonder why any one would consume! However after you choke down the first one you try another, after three to four of these it becomes strangely pleasant and smooth. It also provides a rather interesting intoxication expierence. Its one of those creepy drinks that sneeks up on you long after you thought you had it licked, and inexplicably erases all memory of the evening.
