Not a true single-malt, but an amazing bargain!, Aug 12, 2008
    Reviewer: psw0585

A longtime fan of Speysides, I'd usually kept Cragganmore around as my house Scotch. That changed a little over a year ago when I gambled $21 and went home with a bottle of Lismore. What a pleasant surprise it was to find that, although rather undistinguished and a bit quick on the finish, this vatted malt Scotch gives Cragganmore a run for its money. It has a pleasant nose, is full of fruit and honey, with good smoke in the middle. I have not yet tried the 12-year or the 25-year yet, but I rate this one so highly because -- especially at this price -- it is a very tasty and enjoyable Scotch> I have converted a number of friends, as well!

      Incredible--My Favorite Regular Drink, Feb 23, 2008
    Reviewer: LismoreFan

(First: I am no connoisseur, but I've been sipping single malts casually for ~10 years)

The initial attraction is the price: Easily half of what you'd pay for the bottle of Glenlivet or Glenfiddich on the same shelf. My current bottle mentions no age, but I remember seeing, perhaps on the older label style, that this is five-year-old scotch. It is very smooth and settles nicely with a couple of rocks or just a few drops. Warm and not too peaty. (I hesitate to use such words given the casualness of my drinking) Before I discovered Lismore, my preferred brands were Macallan and Glenlivet. Now, except to experiment, all I ever buy is Lismore... by the case. I commonly give it as a gift and bring it to parties and so far it has been met solely with rave reviews.
If you can find it, I urge you to give it a try. Unless your regular single malt is simply beyond my comprehension, I think you'll appreciate this one.
