Quite complicated but after a few rounds...you'll understand! (newbies get drunk quicker!)
Everyone sit in a circle at a table. All cups full of alcohol to the same level. The first person says:
"I drink to the cardinal's bluff to the first time tonight"
(S)he will then pick up the cup with thumb and index finger and take one sip. Bang the cup on the table once.Tap the edge of the table with one finger once, then the other hand. Bang the left foot on the floor once, then the right. Bounce on the seat once and nod the head once. Then the next player does the same.
When it gets to the first person again it becomes:
"I drink to the cardinal's for the second time tonight"
2 fingers, 2 gulps, 2 bangs, 2 taps, 2 bangs, 2 bounces and 2 nods. Around the table again
When it get's to the first person again it become:
"I drink to the cardinal's bluff for the third and FINAL time tonight"
The remainder of the drink must be swallowed within the 2 gulps.
Then it's three of everything. After 3 nods you pick up the cup with 3 fingers and say "Once a cardinal..." place the empty cup upside down and say "always a cardinal"
It's complicated and inevitable that you will make a mistake...especially as the punishment of making a mistake is to finish your drink there and then...then you must start the round again!
Will get you drunk after a few rounds! |
